From its hilltop position, 4 km from Cisternino, Buen Retiro enjoys a fine panoramic view across the valley. The country refuge of its owners, this spacious and many-faceted complex is made up of trulli built alongside a charming old villa. At an altitude of 300 m above sea level, the accommodation area is surrounded by a Mediterranean garden and an oak wood, while the interiors have been completely refurbished to sleep up to 5 adults. It is around 18 km from the sea.

The whole complex is built around a delightful 500-year-old oak tree, and the exteriors have been opened up and made as comfortable as possible, for outside living during the warmer months.

The garden and the woodland – carpeted in spring and autumn with cyclamens, asphodels, crocuses and other Mediterranean plants – both change colour with the seasons, with the strongest contrasts coming in spring and summer, dominated by the greens of the foliage and the blues of the sky, while the landscape is decidedly softer and more golden in the autumn.

The large spacious house has a 10-metre long living area, formed of three trulli in succession, joined by great archways which make this a unique architectural ensemble. The living room is fully furnished with a table, chairs, benches and television, and also has a working fireplace surrounded by armchairs and a single sofa bed.

A wide passageway leads into two comfortable, spacious bedrooms, one of which is a double and the other a twin, both with bedside tables and original antique furniture. The well-designed kitchen is bright and has its own exit to the outside, where a table, chairs and brickwork benches shaded by a green pergola make eating outside in warmer months all the more enjoyable. The kitchen has a microwave, blender, and toaster which make it even more functional.

Finally, there is a study, where an extra bed can be placed on request; two bathrooms with shower while there is a separate laundry building with a washing machine.
